Our Family Caring for Yours Since 1890

A. Nosek and Sons, Inc. was founded in 1890 in the old Broadway area of Cleveland by Anton Nosek and his two sons Edward and Yaro. Grandson Norman Nosek took over the family business in 1952 and over the following seventeen years expanded the company to include both a North Randall and a Brecksville branch. By 1991, all operations had been consolidated to their Brecksville location.

Dennis McCreery and Norman's daughter Norayne were high school sweethearts. Dennis began helping with ambulance services of two local funeral homes in the early 1960s, and was urged by a friend to attend mortuary school. After graduating, he and Norayne were married, and upon Norman's passing in 1997, Dennis, Norayne, and their son Scott became the latest family members to direct the family firm. We met with Dennis, Norayne, and Scott recently, and listened as they outlined the services A. Nosek and Sons, Inc. provides;

A. Nosek and Sons, Inc. specializes in complete funeral services ranging from the traditional to simple burial and cremation services. We offer funeral pre-planning through pre-arrangement services, irrevocable pre-paid burial contracts, and forethought funeral insurance. We take pride in personalizing our services to accommodate the families we serve, and offer transportation services for those needing to return to the local community for burial.

The major trend in funeral homes today is the smaller homes being purchased by larger conglomerates. While these large, chain-type operations continue to expand at an unprecedented rate, their very nature prevents them from providing the community with the caring, personalized touch of the locally owned and operated funeral homes. A. Nosek and Sons, Inc. has been a family firm since our founding in 1890, and we're proud of our ability to offer comfort to local families during one of their family's most personal moments. Our building has been designed to be like a home with a large living room rather than a chapel filled with pews. Since 1947 we've been members of Selected Independent Funeral Homes, a by-invitation-only organization of independent funeral directors dedicated to upholding the highest standards and ethics. When the Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors instituted licensing requirements in 1933, Anton Nosek received License #1 and Yaro Nosek received License #2.

In the past, almost all funerals were basically the same. The first day would include an evening of visiting hours, on the second would be afternoon and evening visitation, and the funeral service and procession to the cemetery would take place on the third day. Modern funerals follow no such blueprint. Some families elect to have visiting hours with no funeral service, other desire a service but no visiting hours, some prefer one hour of visitation and still others want nine hours of visitation. A. Nosek and Sons, Inc. can offer any type of request service, including those of all nationalities and religious faiths.

A. Nosek and Sons, Inc. will provide your family with comfort and caring during one of life's personal moments. Call A. Nosek and Sons, Inc., and don't forget to tell them The Advocate sent you!
